CLAIM TO FAME:
Plays Randy on "Home Improvement," was the voice of Simba in The Lion King,
an played Tom Sawyer in Tom and Huck.
AWARD:
Winner of the Hollywood Reporter 1995 YoungStar Award for Best Actor in a TV
Comedy Series.
GLITZ AND GLAMOUR:
"When people think of Hollywood, they think, 'Oh, glitz, glamour,' but it's
not at all like that. For Tom and Huck, we spent three months in the mud with
bugs. That was a great experience, but it was tough. Then again, is fun, too.
You get to travel to nice places and meet nice people."
NERVOUS NOW:
"It's funny how, now that I've done a lot more stuff and I've done more than
100 episodes of 'Home Improvement,' I get more nervous than when I was
starting out. You think about it more the more experienced you are, and you
have a better concept of what's going on and what you're doing."
ON AUDITIONS:
"The audition process is very odd. You're in this room with all these kids
and all their mothers and fathers. You want to get the part, but that means
the other kids won't."
CAREER HIGHLIGHT:
"The opening of Man of the House, and the Lion King and the success of 'Home
Improvement.' But the biggest highlight is winning the Hollywood Reporter
YoungStar Award. What it said to me was: 'You've worked for seven years for
this, and your whole family had made sacrifices for you, and you've made
sacrifices. It's recognition of what you've done -- hard work and
dedication."
UPCOMING PROJECTS:
Stars in the movie Pinocchio, coming out this summer.
FUTURE GOALS:
"I am going to college. I'd like to attend Northwestern University. And I'd
love to be a director. That's my ultimate goal."
