Jonathan Taylor Thomas is Totally Yours

(incomplete)

Magazine: Bop and BB magazine

Q: Why don't we start by talking about Home Improvement. Is it hard for you to memorize lines?

A: No, not really. You have a week, a whole five days. Well, actually four - but the fourth day, you normally have it. Even if they change (lines) on you and stuff like that, you can get the memorization down after a while.

Q: How similar would you say your real family is to your Home Improvement family?

A: Oh, wow! Not at all, in fact. Like, for one thing, we're not always blowing up stuff. And we're not as crazy and always doing stuff. Well, yeah, we are, actually. We're always funning around. And we're always really busy.

Q: We've often said you're very intelligent and mature. When you talk to friends your own age, do you talk down to them?

A: No, I just talk. I don't think that when I talk kids can't understand me. I mean, kids that are going to be my friends are going to have to relate to me, and I understand them. Generally, people I hang out with understand me fine, and we can talk and have a good time.

Q: What is your Ethnic heritage?

A: I am, like, Heinz 57! I mean, I'm a mix of everything! But I'm part Portuguese. That's where I get the olive skin. I tan really easily. (Directors) don't like me going out in the sun too much, because then I get too dark. That was the main concern of the people on Man of the House, when I was up in Vancouver. They said I had to stay out of the sun, or, if I go out there it's, like, 40 sunblock. They film (movies) out of sequence, so if in one scene you have blonde hair, and the next you have really dark, it's not going to match.

Q: Where do you go if you want to relax on the set of Home Improvement?

A: You can't there isn't enough time. If you're having a bad day, then you deal with it. That's it. You have to deal with it and work. That's just how it is.

Q: What about when you get home?

A: How do I deal with it once I get home? I go to my bedroom and pick up a fishing magazine and lie on my bed and read. Or I think of the future, or oranize my fishing gear, or play with my pets or brush my cat.

Q: What is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?

A: One time, my aunt.. was visiting, and I had a couple of my friends over, and she brought up my potty training, which is a big no-no! I was 11. And believe me I was fully potty trained by 11!
